What dash cam fitting actually involves

A proper fit means dropping the headlining trim, removing the A-pillar, routing the power cable down to the fuse box and tapping into an ignition-switched and a permanent live for parking mode. For a 2-channel system we also route a thin coax cable across the headlining, down the C-pillar (or B-pillar for saloons) and through the rubber grommet into the tailgate. Done well, no cable is ever visible.
